Air Silencer or not?

Hi folks,

Has anyone taken out there air box silencer and replaced it with just a flexible tube to the fender? I was thinking it might help with restriction. Without going to the full cost of a FIPK. I hope to install a drop in K&N too.

I replaced my air box with a kit from Megan Racing. Not a bad piece for about $65. I did not want to pay the price for a K&N kit or Airaid kit. Check it out:

Looks like the website is down. I'll see if I can get a picture posted. It is basically the same as the Airraid kit.

Yeah Im interested in the pics also. I mean if you can get a boost for 70 bucks that sure is better then 200+ with the K and N

Thanks for the reply, I will await some pics on that too. I just looked at the "airaid' system and it sure looks sharp! I bet its pricey too?

I think I must get rid of that big black air box silencer no matter what.

That looks like a good setup for sure. I wonder if they have one for the 5.7 TBI? Im going to bypass that air box soon anyway. Thanks for the pics

Unless if I'm mistaken on where you are talking, I wouldn't hook anything up in the middle of the filter and the t/b or else you'll be letting in unfiltered air into the t/b. And that would be a big .

what I want is a tube to go from my airaid to my tbody to replace the factory one. Kinda like the k&n tube that comes in their kit
