14 & up salvage title vehicles

Seen a few 14 & newer salvage title silverados around here lately. Have mixed feelings about them. Would you shy away from them or does it depend on extent of damage? Frame, airbags? Also can you get a 72 mo loan on a salvage title? What about a repairable with a clean title - are these really any better?

It would matter on what component(s) were damaged. I've seen airbags on a vehicle with no sheet metal damage total the car. I wouldn't have hesitated to buy that particular salvaged title vehicle (depending on the price).

But it's definitely worth seriously investigating.

depends on the reason, hack there are vehicles out there that were damaged in transit, found on blocks a few weeks after stolen, but payment was already made to insured, but remember this, u better plan on keeping it long enough to get your use, 8/10 years, because it will be very hard to unload,

In my job I deal with the Auto Industry, so I will tell you what I know.

1.) You must confirm the history of the vehicle via (Carfax and/or AutoCheck) and determine what caused it to become non-roadworthy (Salvage), and confirm what repairs were made to make it roadworthy (Rebuilt-from-Salvage).

2.) You have to consider that finance companies are often less willing to lend as much on a Rebuilt-from-Salvage vehicles. If you find one you like, get the VIN and make some calls.

3.) You must consider that you may take a hit when you want to resell the vehicle. If you trade it in, the dealer will likely run a Carfax and try to low ball you. If you sell it to a private party, many/most state laws have their own disclosure laws.

If the Salvage status stems from frame damage or flood damage, I say forget it. If you're seeing 2014's with Salvage titles, they are most likely flood damage vehicles, which can mean electrical issues in the short term and/or long term.
