I'm taking my wife to Myrtle Beach in a fews weeks, because she's never seen the ocean.  (Well not really, she saw it once when she was really littel, but she can't remember it and I guess it could just be a story her parents made up.  :smash: )

Anyway, I picked Myrtle so I could go to the House Of Blues, because I personally don't like the ocena, but I love to go to the house of Blues.  We're staying in North Myrtle very near Barefoot Landing and HOB.  Anybody have some suggestions of any cool things to check out while I'm there, aquariums, museums, parks, stores, etc, open to any and all suggestions.

I'm gonna need something besides HOB, Mini Golf and Go Carts.  (Well, I won't need more, but she'll want to do more.   :jester: )

Thanks for any help.

Midievil Times was pretty neat.  Good food too.  Takes up a lot of time though.  You have to be there at like 4pm and it lasts til 10pm, or so.

Get some cheap fishing rod combos....(Reel and rod).....some squid or blood worms, and some PVC pipe(to hold your rod in the sand), and go fishing....Take the truck out on the beach(4 wheelin for you), and fish during sunset (for her)....if your lucky you'll get catch some fish and have some fun.  Buy some wine or some beer, and fish.....my girlfriend and I love to surf fish in NC, no better surf fishing in the world.  Hope this helps.

We're planning on going to the Ripley's Aquarium for sure.  Thanks for the input, I think we'll chekc on one of those boat tours, that sounds like fun.  I forgot about Hard Rock Cafe, that might be another place we go, we're definately going to the House of BLues in North Myrtle, I can't go with tou going there.

We're going May 19th, we have to be back for work and summer classes the next week.

Most of the cool places have been mentioned already.  I would add that there are several Country music based performance halls as well ( if you like that kind of stuff).  There is the Alabama Theater, Carolina Opry, Dixie Stampede, etc.  all of them are pretty dern good, again if you like that stuff.

Finally, I am located in Florence, SC (where I-20 and I-95 meet).  How are you going to travel?  If you need anything, contact me.  If you are interested, PM me and I can provide contact info.

I forgot about that too.  We went there when we spent a few days over there on J.T.'s spring break.  They had a good BBQ sandwich.  It, and the aquarium, is located at this little complex (can't remember the name of it though) that has lots of shops, resturants, etc.

We are staying at North Myrtle, so I'm probably going to be coming in to there on State Route 9.  I figure well hang out around Barefoor Landing, House of Blues, etc that evening and then go down to Myrtle the next day.  I think the Alabama Theatre is at Barefoot Landing isn't it?

Good to kow that the aquarium and Hard Rock are that close to each other.  The closer things are the better.  When I looked up the Hard Rock Cafe it said something about Broadway at the Beach, is that the complex your are talking about Tom?

Are you coming down through NC?  If so, you have my condolences, this is a looonnnggg state to drive through....could just be because I have to live here!  The coast actually isn't too bad.  Pick up some fireworks at South Of The Border or something...good way to have some fun...

My wife and I are yearly regulars at Myrtle Beach.  Here's a few of the things we like:

If you like seafood there's certainly no shortage of seafood restaurants there, but if you get a chance try this place called "Drunken Jacks".  It's just a few miles south of the beach in Murrell's Inlet.  Dining on a salt marsh with lots of local flavor.

Go north to Wilmington, NC and take a tour of the battleship USS North Carolina.

Broadway on the Beach is where the Hardrock Cafe is at.  Planet Hollywood and the Ripley's Aquarium are there also along with a bunch of little shops (which my wife loves).
