Active Fuel Management (AFM) Started Acting Abnormal

Vehicle: 2008 Tahoe 5.3 Flex

Had the vehicle for a while now and never noticed or felt anything when AFM was switching between v4 and v8 mode. Right now I can clearly feel when it goes in and out of v4/v8 mode. Hard to explain, but driving around town it shimmies at low speeds until you see on the dashboard display that it switched back to v8 mode. I don't know anything about AFM and how it works, but I believe something is now not working with it as it was designed. Any advice on why this behavior is happening would be fantastic.

Just buy a programmer and shut the AFM off. My truck shimmied/vibrated in V4 right off the dealer lot when new. They claimed it was normal.... so I got a diablosport programmer and shut it off. No worries.

Any suggestions on a programmer? I see a few choices. Hoping to not spend $400 to turn this thing off.

I just ordered a Range Technology Active Fuel Management Disable Device off amazon for almost $200 should stop oil consumption and noise that it has going from v4 to v8.. Plus a buddy has it and says his works amazing with no difference on the milage it gets.... Plug and play and ur done... Stays in v8 at all times.. I should have mine in by friday woot woot!!
