Hey,

I have a 2002 chevy tahoe LT with a 9 speaker system in it, I heard the bose system when I test drived a 03' and it sounded awesome especially with the tweaters on the sides of the windshield, My question is can I modify this system to sound similiar to the bose or do I have to change it all out! if I can't get any info on this is there a site to go to that tells you what you actually have for a stereo system in the tahoe and how  to modify it .  TIA FLYANA    :chevy:

You can get remarkably better sound quality by just putting aftermarket speakers in place of the factory ones.

-OR-

Get amplifiers for the factory speakers.

Just replacing the factory speakers is probably the easier route, and in my opinion...Will sound better. Aftermarket speakers have a much wider frequency response range than the stockers.

Adding amps might cost a little less than replacing 9 speakers...But they will be driving the factory paper speakers.

Just my .02, hope they helped.

Wingnut is right.  I would pull the stock speakers out of the front and get some new component speakers.  The new component speakers also usually come with a tweeter that you can aim in any direction you want.  I used to have some Infinity Kappa 60.5's in my '02 Sierra and they were a huge improvement over stock.  I added a sub/amp combo under the ext cab rear seat also.  The front speakers I ran off the stock head unit's amp because I was just interested really in the high's from the Kappa's.

Wow flyana, you like the BOSE system?

I got it in my '03 Sierra and as soon as I have money it's going out the door.  Get some quality aftermarket speakers, maybe a new headunit if you have the money.  That alone will improve your sound beyond the BOSE system.  If you have extra $$, go for the amp and sub.  Then you'll be rocking.

The BOSE option isn't worth the cash ... quality aftermarket parts are.

JimG,

I liked the STOCK bose system I heard in the 2003 hoe simply cuz I could turn it all the way up and it didn't distort and the tweeters in the front added some typical bose sound, actually I've never been crazy about bose bass modules{home systems}, didn't have enough punch for me! My main concern is to find out how many watts this system has and if I could add tweeters to the{front windshield pillars} front and bass subwoofer with small amp to the back in cargo area and add 8 speakers to the doors. I like cerwin vega and klipsch, alpine,,,,like to find site that has info on stock system if possible THANKS for the info guys      :owned: flyana
