The OS engine in my Tmaxx is getting weak and has never really impressed me too much (although it was better after I ported it and Knifed the rod).

I'm considering the new XTM .18 rear exhaust engine as a replacement this year.  Rear exhaust is natural for these little powerhouses so that should help and the larger displacement should make a difference too.

I was wondering if anyone has run an XTM racing engine in their trucks or buggies, and how durable are they and how well do they hold a tune?

Happy RC'ing!!!

Shaners, you may also want to try Traxxas' 2.5. Not sue if it's a direct fit but that would definitely get you the power you want  :)

I don't know if it will fit either.  I know the Traxxas 2.5 is a hot motor, but it would also need the rear header exhaust kit, and it is still a .15 motor.

I was hoping my Tmaxx with an .18 rear exhaust would be quicker than the new 2.5 (.15) Traxxas Tmaxx.  I just don't know much about XTM Racing, and how good their motors are...

I know alot of guys use Novarosi but they are expensive. Have you thought about rebuilding yours? It sure is a  cheaper alternative...

This motor has been rebuilt before and it was ported when the rebuild was done.  It's an OS CVX.15 with a different head on it and was a fine motor.

I've seen some el-cheapo Megatech motors that scream for less than $100.

I have an Ofna Hyper .21 in my 4x4 buggie and really like it, and I think I'll try this .18 from XTM and be the test mule for my Tmaxx.  I'm running a OS .12 in my RC-10 GT.
