Chrome Step Bar ???

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just installed a set of chrome wheel to wheel step bars and I now get a resonating sound at approx 1600 RPM. It is like a loud hum! I have no creaking or popping like I though I would just this resonating sound, hum, vibration???

I did recheck the cab mounts and brackets and everything is very snug just not sure how to cure it.

Anyone with wheel to wheel's or any other steps have this occur? Anyone have solution suggestions?

thanks!

Is it the bar itself that is vibrating?  or is it the mount that bolts to the cabmounts?  I saw a fix for a noisy garage door opener on TOH last week, maybe you could use a small pice of rubber on the bar mount, maybe it can absorb some of the vibrations. ???

I would check the torque on all the cab mounts...  If they are over torqued, you probably ruined the rubber gromet/washer/doughnut that isolates the bars from the cab, and that could be the cause of the noise.
