2000 Gmc Sierra 1500 Brake Light Issues

I am having a very very difficult problem. I do not have brake lights or cruise control. Don't know if they have anything in common but they both went out at the same time. I started off by checking the fuses, and they all seem to be working fine. Then I replace the brake switch, and I am still having the same issue. Then i replaced the bulbs, nothing changed. The drivers side running light in the rear does work but the passenger side does not. I used a light tester on the wiring harness that attaches to the brake switch. And the only one that lit up was the orange wire. I am desperate. Please help

check grounds at the back

I'd also check the plug at the back of the frame for the rear lights.

I did check the grounds and I replace the plate by the spare tire. I've spent so many hrs on this and I'm stumped.

Someone told me if I replace the cruise ctl it might solve the issue due to that it's connected to the brake pedal......? I'm willing to try anything.
