4WD problem

4WD seems to be engaged when selector switch is in 2WD mode , any ideas as to what is causing this. My truck is a 1999 Silverado with the new body style. 6.0 engine with towing package.

One of the actuators may of crapped the bed while engaged. I'm not much more help than that. This is my first truck with push button 4wd and I hate that so far. I rebuilt my entire transfer case and I still can't get 4wd I need to find out if it's my encoder motor or the switch panel.

My truck stuck in 4WD coming down a mountain and 500 miles away from home with full bed of gear and pulling a trailer. I was close to pulling the front drive shaft just to get down the interstate to the nearest dealer. Pulling the transfer case motor off freed whatever was binding it. Put it back on just to get home. The transfer case motor and front actuator went out just like that with no warning. Replaced both and all is well again.
