The shiny area of my "Chevrolet" emblem on the tailgate is starting to flake off. Looks like crap. How do I get ithe emblem off without damaging the paint? Just heat it with a hairdryer and peal? Will there be a ghost image of the emblem on the paint? I may just leave it off if not. It's just not as nice a piece as the "Silverado" on the other side (of the tailgate).

Because your truck is light-colored, you shouldn't have much of a ghosting issue.  Your easiest way to remove the emblem is to use dental floss or fishing line as a saw behind it.  

 

Once you've cut the emblem off, you'll be left with part of the oem foam tape which you can then remove with Goo-Gone or Goof-Off or a similar product.

 

Give it some wax and you're done if you don't want to replace it.  If you do, skip the wax and give it rub with denatured alcohol to allow for good adhesion with the new tape.
