AFM issues information

Just curious as I just bought a '10 silverado. Is everyone in agreement that these motors will fail due to the AFM or is it just some of the early years? I read mix reviews so I want to hear if yours is g2g or if your one of the guys who had to replace the dang motor.

So after some more reading, I see if you get the new and improved valve covers, the issues are less likely to occur? Anyone have any experience with this? Also, any negatives to turning AFM off completely?

My 2010 silverado had problem starting at 80,000 miles. After multiple dealers screwed me around on it, I finally got gm corporate to get the dealer fix the motor. 3 burnt pistons and 2 bad valves. Dealer covered it under warranty. On my 2014 sierra I turned off the afm, no problems so far. The problem I had had more to do with software than anything else I think. Get your truck updated.

at 74K I just used my tuner to disable the AFM hoping to never see an issue, glad you got someone willing to fix it for you!
