Inside trim

Hello. I have a sierra 2014 and I was looking to remove the trim on the steering wheel and trim around the dash so I could wrap it. So I am curious. How hard is it to remove it and what tools do you use?

I'd like to know too. Especially the piece around the screen

Words of warning, I have not attempted this myself yet, though I plan to in the next few weeks.

Around the screen is just pops off with a little leverage, using a plastic trim removal tool to avoid damaging it.

This might help though it's a video for a head until upgrade.

From what I understand most of the other interior dash trim comes off the same way.

And I remember seeing somewhere that you can remove the steering wheel trim by undoing the screws on the back of the wheel and wiggling the pieces free. Just remember to disconnect your batter first. Nobody wants a face full of airbag.

Edit: after a quick search, it seems it hard to come by. When I do mine in the coming weeks, I'll shoot some video and post a link on here

Thanks, i look forward to the video. I was trying to take the trim off the steering wheel but stopped as the area with the buttons seemed to take more force than im comfortable and i dont want to break anything.

The piece under The touch screen is a production To remove not hard just annoying. After you take The bezel off

You'll see The bracket that holds The touch screen. It's Held On by 4 bolts.

After you remove them give it a little tug it'll pop out

Undo The harnesses.

Remove all The torque gold screws

Leave it face down wiggle The cover a little. It'll pop off then there is a few more gold screws To remove Be careful.Of The green boards

(I didnt remove then all just loosened them till they were almost out)

Push The two tabs holding The molding in place and wiggle The molding out.

When you puting The touch screen cover plate back On. Very important you'll see The 8 or 10 prongs that The harness attaches To. they haveto fit into The cover plate perfectly. Don't bend them puting it back On.

It'll make sense when you are looking At The cover plate

Did them in place.

Use a piece that's a few inches bigger than The handles use a lot of heat and stretching. you can use a primer On The edges so it doesnt pull Up later. Really wasn't To hard. Just watch where you put The heat gun almost dropped it On my seat lol

Ahhhh nice idea. What primer do you use? Does it leave it sticky when you decide to remove the wrap in the future? I did a wrap for the center Console were you put your phone and it looks like the edges are lifting.

I can't remember The name you can google it.. And pick Up a sealant pen. The pen you use On The edges. It'll leave it tacky but adhesive remover will take it off or rubbing alcohol

Paulybee - I am about to attempt removing the steering wheel trim to wrap it. Did you disconnect battery and remove screws on back side of steering wheel, or did you just grit your teeth and start prying?
