First off, yes it's a car but I've been told on my past go fast toys by people here they enjoyed watching it go along (not sure if they meant the progress or the misery, ), so I thought I'd make a "one spot" thread here. If it's "not allowed" since it's not a truck, delete it.

I know, some of the stuff I've done and I decide to start a build thread on this

Bought it with so many miles everything underneath needed attention so the previous owner did some nice upgrades before selling. He had some stuff going on, long story short decided to pick up a low mile car fully loaded and start over(he said it was in great shape but was going to have to replace all the same parts due to age). Paint shows wear but really not that bad for the miles(think it's been repainted since many labels and RPO codes are missing.

A few minutes after purchase. It was pretty dirty inside and under the hood.

So I cleaned it up everywhere, with a NanoSkin treatment and Colinite 845 outside. Aerospace 303 inside. Three old socks gave their lives for the cleaning of this interior.

And a day later the famous common GM socket meltdown occurred.

Here is the mod listas/recent replacement list as purchased:

Strano Springs

Bilstein Shocks(SLP performance suspension spec I think)

Auburn Pro Series Carrier

3.73 gears

New clutch

New flywheel

New spark plugs(NGK Iridium)

New Alternator

New slave cylinder

New Power Steering pump

Moser Engineering 28 spline Axles

New structure assembly components, KYB mounts

New front and rear stabilizer end links

BMR strut brace

BMR tubular upper control arms

Hotchkis adjustable rear panhard bar

IMO rear control arms

BFG Sport Comp 2

New Calipers and Drilled and slotted rotors on front

So I cut it off and soldered on a new one. No pic, so imagine that, just not melted

5 minutes after cleaning the underbody, the leak the seller suspected was confirmed:

So a few days later I had that fixed, no more leak, so the clutch is safe now

Got in some new door panels from a leather car, they are near mint. Haven't installed, might hold off until AC is fixed.

The steering wheel had a cover because a chunk of the rim was just gone. So I slowly filled in the spot with Gorilla Wood Glue until is was good, than installed this cover. Found a wheel but didn't want to replace a wheel since the wheels are pretty cheap quality, and one for this car is rare to find nice(it's a 1SC/1SZ trim car, stripped/options deleted), might buy it and store it for a later date.

Also will put this on soon

Car has a plate bracket on front, so this will help it look better(OK doesn't require front plates). Might get the Carbon Fiber grille someday later.

It wasn't on it's death bed, just needs cleaning and work. The PO gave me a good start with the fresh suspension, but I think he hit his limit on replacing stuff on an old car. Probably going to start the Oil pan before long to just get it done. The YouTube videos that show what to disassemble(the black TA video is the best) make it look like it's gonna be rough. Decided to to it myself(or attempt to) since it's 60%+ of what you need to do during an engine swap, and so I figure I could use the experience on The car since I want to do an LS3 swap whenever this engine starts to go(220k miles, but runs good so far) or 2-3 years, whatever comes first. And it looks like a popular way is to drop the K member and subframe out, roll it to the side, swap the engine, then put it back in.

Ls3 are good motors. But those LS1 you can never go wrong with those bad boys,, one thing I hated the most they are really hard to work on. HARD TO REACH places . But your right on doing things your self, It's about the only way you can afford play

Started the oil pan project. Just jacked it up and loosened the wheels is all. Not Rushing it, if I can get off Saturday might have it done over the holiday weekend.

Don't forget to put the nut on the mounting bolt.

 I did, that was just a "I gotta get out from under his friggin thing" break.

Can now add a few things to the list

Energy Suspension Polyurethane:

Motor Mounts

Transmission mount

Sway bar endlinks

(Last two were already there, just not on the list)

Did a seafoam induction cleaning after a test drive, and after the seafoam high RPM drive I could smell crap still smell stuff burning off after I shut it off. Must have been dirty in there. Only running 100% 91 octane gas from a Top Tier station for a while at least, even before I get a tune.

Replacing coolant hoses now.

I might take out the EGR and AIR systems and do a tune sometime. AIR system is throwing codes and it's easier to remove and tune than hunt it down.

Hoses arrived and are installed.

Somehow, a gallon jug of distilled water busted open half way and made a half gallon pond in the hatch. I looked back there 2 days ago so it just happened, pulled the carpet up and looked fine, guess it's good it's stupid hot so the carpet will dry fast. Luckily I had a gallon of Prestone "Any Color"(I have read user reports that it does mix fine with Dex, only been out since 2014 or something) and some bottled water to make up the difference.

Funny how I order Camaro hoses from RockAuto and get a magnet of a Mustang in the box.
