2010 2500 HD

Hello,

 

New to the forum here. I have a 2010 Chevy 2500 HD truck. It currently has 265/75 R16 off-road tires on it. I plan to take a long trip (NY to Texas and back) pulling a trailer loaded with about 1500 lbs. Naturally, I'd like to get some road tires.

 

I was looking on Craigslist for new or lightly used rims and tires to use just for this trip. I found the following for $400, the guy told me they are stock rims & tires from a 2014 truck with 20k miles on them and the tires are 17":

Bridgestone Dueller H/T 255/70R17

 

Can my truck use those 17" rims/tires?

 

Is it a bad idea to buy new-ish tires/rims? I only need them for this trip, so it's hard to justify $800+, but I'll do it if I have to.

Those are 6 lug. Those will fit 1500 trucks ONLY. You need wheels for a 2001-2010 Silverado/Sierra 2500, 2500hd or 3500, 16" or 17".

I think there's probably some bolt pattern adapters for 6 to 8 lug, but I don't think I'd trust them especially while pulling a trailer.

 

Maybe go to your tire shop and see if you can't buy a decent set of used tires and the correct steel rims for them. Might run you a little more but it would be worth it. If you are a regular there they might give you a good deal on them if you ask

Those don't even look like LT rated tires, I tried to zoom in and confirm if they are common 1500 series P rated tires. There is no way I'd put them on a 2500HD.
