Battery not charging??

Hey guys, so about a week ago I purchased a re manufactured alternator. All was good until I just got to work now. It started off 2 notches past the 14 on the volt meter. Once in awhile the gauge would go crazy shooting up and down between 14-19. Then out of nowhere the gauge sat 1 notch above the 1/4 mark. In between 9 and 14. About an hours worth of driving the gauge went right back to 2 notches above 14 and stayed there for awhile. Then dropped to midway between 9 and 14 again and after another hour it went to 14 again. I had read that some trucks the alternator shuts off after awhile if its a high output one.. so i had just assumed that was it. Well today as I was coming to work the gauge dropped to exactly halfway between 9 and 14 and I could tell something felt off about the trucks power. I didn't think anything of it at the time. Then the needle dropped 1 more notch below that.. and when I got to work the truck shut off and wouldn't start.

My battery light never once came on after I put this new alternator in. The battery is a newer battery. Does this sound like an issue with the battery or the alternator?

Thanks
