ScramblerHD
Well its been 9 1/2 weeks with the new HD CC D-Max and this is my report. The love affair has begun!! So far this truck is just amazing. I dont know what it is but the truck grows on me everyday. I will say that the Alli. trans. is a work of art. I think if it had a brain it could talk to you and almost does. I really like the way it preforms I know that the tourqe management system is not liked by all but I just think that it makes this transmission. So far I have put on about 5000 miles and am getting around 14-16 mpg highway and 13-15 city which I think is great. The LT package also hits the spot. for a truck I am impressed with what it offers. I only have a couple complaints. One thing is not sure if it is a design flaw or just me. I am always hitting the heated seats button and then a mile or so down the road I am burrning my you know what off Also for having the LT package I wonder why some things are just left out like lighted mirrors or a light under the hood I cant figure that out?? I am running 285's on it and think they are just right for the truck also dont understand why on a HD you would have a 245 Unfortunately I bought this truck to tow my 24 foot toy hauler and have not been out once this year I just cant wait to see how it will tow my tailer loaded with quads. Also the front end has grown on me a bit all except what seams like foot long bumper on the side where the wheel well is, I just dont like that look. Anyway so farr not one complait other than I have to scrap with my wife for the keys when we go places Well hope all are enjoying their HD's as much as I am. Shaners
If you think the truck runs well now, wait till you hook up to your "ToyHauler"!!!
JimWilson
No complaints yet? Wait a little longer and you'll have some! Actually, my truck is not that bad. I've had a few problems -- mostly minor -- but it's the dealers "service" (and I use that term loosely) that's the real problem; they're the absolute pits. But overall, I must admit that I like this truck, more then I thought I would.
Truckman031
Glad you like your truck. Is your toy hauler a gooseneck or bumper pull?
ScramblerHD
It's a bumper pull Weekend Warrior. Had it since 96 and not one problem with it to date unlike others that I have heard of. Hey Jim so what problems have you run into that I may need to look out for??

JimWilson
Hey Jim so what problems have you run into that I may need to look out for?? Well, if you take away the problems the dealer has caused... * I have CSK, and nothing makes it better -- even synthetic oil. * My front diff leaks a little. * There's a clunk in my steering under certain circumstances (that the dealer has "looked at" about 3-4 times by now). * I have this odd engine noise when it's cold, almost like there's a rattlesnake under the hood. It goes away after a few minutes -- the amount of time depends upon how cold it is outside -- but's it's always there in the morning. * My intermittent setting on my wipers has a mind all it's own. There's one or two other things that I can't think of at the moment, but by-and-large they're all relatively minor. And compared to the last American vehicle I owned -- which was about 20 years ago -- this one's a whole lot better. Now, if it will only stay that way for another 150K or so... timk49
I'm here to tell you you have no idea what you have in that truck till you hitch up to a big trailer. When you hit the steep grades towing that load your love affair is going to turn into an obsession.
Truckman031
ScramblerHD, you don't have to worry about CSK since it only affects the Vortec V8s. JimWilson, all engines make some noise on cold mornings, due to no oil in the engine. CSK is another story though.
BDBWTE
A trailer full of quads won't even phase that trucks... I pull 9-12 quads on my 6.0 and it don't care so a DMAX is going to laugh..
ScramblerHD
Thanks for the imput folks. Well the forth will be the weekend that I plan on pulling with it. We will be going out camping and this will be when I see what she is made of. We live in Rio Ranch NM outside of Albuquerque. If any of you have ever been on I-25 noth to Santa Fe you will know the road I am talking about. There is a hill there that is long and steep this is where the DMax should shine. After that the week of the 7th I am taking my son to a wrestling camp in Utah I plan on pulling the trailer and staying there for a week. So I will hopefully be doing it with a big ol sh_t eating grin.
JimWilson
JimWilson, all engines make some noise on cold mornings, due to no oil in the engine. CSK is another story though. And a story I'm well familiar with. My truck sounds like a diesel when it's first started, and it ain't gettin any better either. BTW... I've been drive for about 25 years now, and this is the first vehicle I have ever owned that made any type of "what the h#ll is that?" noise when it's started, so I can't agree with you that all engines make some kind of noise when started cold. And living in the NW corner of NJ means I know a thing or two about cold.

JimWilson
We live in Rio Ranch NM outside of Albuquerque. Well now, there's a blast from the past -- I helped build Rio Rancho! Actually, it was only the first couple of dozen houses, about 25 years or so ago when I was a young guy living in Albuquerque (I was a roofer and framer at the time, so I had a big hand in a lot of those homes). Is the Husky still out there on Coors Rd?
