Whats this thing Humming

I walked out to my car this morning and there was this churning humming sound while the truck was off. I climbed under the truck and this unit was making all the noise. This is mounted around the drivers door next to the fuel filter. Can you tell me what it is. PS it is unplugged becaus I unplugged it to make the humming stop. It was very hot to the touch.

 

How bad is it if it is humming? Can I just leave it unplugged?

That is your ABS module. Leave it unplugged or it will drain your battery. However your ABS is no longer functional...

Thanks for the response. This is the thing that everyone has needed to replace correct. It is a 1999 Silverado 1500

Yep, ABS, that's the common complaint. Hope you find the module cheap.
