adding xm radio

I have the 6 disc bose system right now and it seems to have controls for xm though my unit didn't come with it. I don't want to get a whole new system with the RF modulator. Is the stock unit ready for xm where I just need to get the antenna? It'd be great if I could just plug something in to the back of the unit. Thanks for any help.

You have to get the modulator and get the delphi. The radios look the same but they are not. If you turn your radio on and then scroll through your am1 fm1 fm2 it should also say xm 1. If it doesn't your deck is not xm ready. I had to do the same thing. I went with the delphi. You will like the unit. hope this helps

The XM tuner is actually a separate box somewhere under the dash that then plugs into the radio. GM isn't selling that aftermarket at this time. There is speculation they might, but it's not available now. If you could get your hands on the XM tuner it would plug in/integrate into your current BOSE radio in some way. The problem is you'd still have to take the vehicle in and have it reprogrammed to recognize the XM tuner had been added - then the controls would become active in the unit.

 

So for now you'll have to integrate otherwise - like with the RF modulator.
