gonna re-charge my ac w/ a can of the 134a refegerant you can get at wally world, but in the directions you connect the can to the "low side service port". any one know where exactly this is on my ac system?

The metal AC line has 2 ports on it. One it the back and one in the front. The one in the back on the passenger side by the canister is the low pressure port. The front one I believe is high pressure.

Well.. I'm not by the truck right now, but the low side is the LARGER of the two lines attached to the compressor. The line runs from the evaporator to the compressor and is call the suction line.

The other line attached to the compressor is called the discharge line, and runs from the compressor to the top of the condenseor in front of the truck.

An A/C system has two sides, the Low side, and the high side. The Low and high sides are seperated by the compressor and expansion valve.

The high side in any auto A/C can have pressures over 200psi, the low side will be in the 30-60 lb range with the system running.

Hence the reason on Cars that the R-12 (old Freon) needed the adapter to connect to the high side, and I'm pretty sure the 134-a systems are the same way.

Those little cans of gas become hand grenades when attached to the high side.
