Cargo light on with key fob

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500 HD and I would like for the cargo light to come on with the key fob. Either with the interior lights or the reverse lights. Has anyone ever done this mod? I have searched and not really found anything that helps. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Don't know about your 2004 but on my 96 all I had to do to make the cargo lamp come on with either the key fob unlock or turning the interior lights on was to turn on the cargo lamp switch. Do you have a switch in the cabin for the cargo lamp? Also, Some models in 2004 had a DIC that you could make changes to some of the settings. There is a perimeter lighting setting that you can turn on and off if you have a trim with the DIC. Not sure though if it will control the cargo lamp or not.

 

If none of the above work for you the solution is going to be a little complicated because it's not as simple as just tapping into a wire due to the laws about rear facing white lights while moving in forward direction. The only way I would know to make it do what you want would be to tie into the Keyless Entry relay so that it would send power to the light when the key fob is activated.
