No Crank, multiple lights on dash.

I've been searching & reading and am at a loss. I have a 2003 Silverado with the 5.3L and auto transmission.

Started on Wednesday, went to leave, everything powered up, no crank. Pulled battery, tested, it is good. Got under the truck, smacked starter with a hammer a few times, truck fired up. Worked fine the rest of the night and Thursday morning, but I decided to replace the starter. New starter in, first start is fine. Next start the starter keeps cranking after motor fires, shut off key, starter was still cranking. Pull that starter, go get a replacement. New starter installed, no crank.

Check all fuses, they are good. Test all relays, they are good. Key in crank position, no click on starter relay. Connect jumper wire to crank fuse "output", relay clicks, still no crank. Pull relay, jumper wire to relay output, starter cranks. Turn key to run position, jumper to relay output, motor cranks, fires and runs.

Now that it is running, I have the following lights staying on. Check Engine, Security, ABS & Brake. Driver information center says "Service Brake Booster".

I have reverse, 2nd & 3rd gear. When in "D", transmission is in 3rd, have to manually shift into 2nd to take off and then back to 3rd. If you floor it, it will not downshift on it's own.

I appreciate any help you can give.

You have a burnt BCM fuse. Check all the fuses. I believe it's a 60 amp square fuse in the underhood fuse block.

Coby7, only 60A square fuse is the ABS fuse.

I have the following other square fuses:

MBEC 1 - 50A

BLOWER - 40A

LBEC 2 - 50A

STUD #2* - 30A

IGN A - 40A

IGN B - 40A

LBEC 1 - 50A

All fuses appeared good. I will double check with an Ohm meter tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply/help.

Cody7,

Turned out to be the IGN A 40A fuse. Was a pain to figure out since fuse apparently had enough contact to test good on the Ohm meter, but not enough to pass current.
