5.3 idle issue

Random high idle, will come back down if turned off usually but sometimes it goes right back up to about 13 to 1400. Sometimes it surges after the truck has slowed to a stop and your setting,revving the engine running through gears and restarting doesn't always help. Any ideas?

Check fuel pressure, intake gasket, mass air flow sensor, throttle position, idle control valve.

All modern engines should come with a scan tool. Really have to have one to look at live data and see if anything is off.

 

This is why I stick with carburetors whenever possible. They aren't as bad as all the youngsters on the internet make them out to be, once set up correctly - only have to do that once. Sure cures the headaches of these types of problems ...

Yes they do. Would love to convert my beast to Carb

I'll be able to convert mine in 2022 - becomes exempt from emission testing then.

 

I'm sure by that time it'll have all kinds of electrical problems, and I'll be chomping at the bit to do it anyway.
