Tire Size Question

I have 22" stock wheels on my truck and they are just over 32" overall diameter. My question is why wouldn't a 33x12.50x22 tire fit without leveling or lifting ?? It's only a difference of an inch. Is the difference at full lock? Just curious and was wondering everyone's .02

Your stock 22" tires are likely 285 45R22. 285's are 285mm or about 11.25" wide. 305's are 12" wide.

The 33x12.5x 22's are 12.5" wide.

 

I put 305's on my wife's '15 Tahoe before I traded it and they rubbed on the mudflaps when turning in reverse.

So if the tire is a half inch wider, as the 33x12.5x22's are, they will definitely rub in my opinion.
