I'm looking at some Alcoa Challenger wheels.  I think I may get the 16x8.  I don't however understand the difference between offset and backspacing.  I thought they meant the same thing.  Does anyone know the difference between backspacing and offset.

Backspacing is the measurement from the mounting pad to the inner edge of the wheel.

Offset is the distance from the mounting pad to the centerline of the wheel.

regcab02HD, I have the MickeyThompson Challengers - made by Alcoa - same wheels - 16x8 - backspacing is 4 9/16" - really nice wheels - you can put an E 10ply tire on them

Hey gandolphxx,  I looked at your site and that's the exact setup I plan on putting on my HD.  The Challengers and the TRXUS's.  I couldn't find any pictures of your Avy. with the TRXUS's though.  I saw the Challengers and they looked good.  Do you have any pics of the TRXUS on your Avy.

Your running the 265/75/16 right.  Did you have to turn up the torsion bars any?

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum

I neglected to check the front fender well - it is very tight on the 2500 AV - I can just barely run 265/75/16's with the torsion bars cranked.

I also decided the drag racing was fun - installed Whipple and ... I am now debating putting on Pirelli Scorpion Zero 285/65/16's or BFG KO/AT 275/70/16's - they will fit, I think

Your 2500HD will not have these problems - If I had the room I would have a set of the TrXus tires in a heartbeat.

BTW: the wheel place that I special ordered the MT's from was skeptical until they arrived - the shop guy took one look and said "sweet - finally a real set of wheels"
