HELP - Turn Signal Issue

I was given a Street Scenes roll pan for my '14 Silverado Crew Cab for Christmas. Due to life, I was just able to get it installed over this last weekend. As it would happen, Street Scenes does not have a license plate light provision, leaving it up to the owner. So, I purchased a stick on LED for now. To provide power to the LED, I cut the driver's side 921 bulb socket off and wired the LED in the wires going to the truck and everything lit up like it should, break lights, hazards, turn signals, reverse lights, and the LED light pod which is lighting the plate.

Here is the issue. When using the turn signals, either left or right, it blinks normal for 3 or 4 blinks and then it blinks very rapidly and I receive the DIC warning message about the indicator lights malfunctioning.

So, my questions to the group are....Any ideas? Should I wire a resistor inline to the LED pod similar to the guys using LED's in turn signals? If so, what size? Should I try to find a different plate lighting solution that would use the 921 bulb?

The blinkers do still work, they just blink like crazy after the first few cycles. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

For the turn signals you will have to wire in a load resistors on each turn signal. These I are what I used for my front turn signals and they have worked great.

Thanks for the reply. Please forgive my ignorance.

My question would be, why are the resistors needed? I did not change the turn signal bulbs to LED, I did not touch the turn signal bulbs at all. I did, however, cut off the driver's side license plate light socket to wire in a LED to light the license plate. So, you are saying that I would need a resistor inline for the license plate LED? Even the hazards work as they should. Also, from what you are suggesting, you are saying that the license plate lights are tied in to the turn signal lights down stream?

I apologize as I miss understood your post. I thought that you replaced your turn signals with LED's as well. Your Licence plate lamps are on a separate line from the turn signals and should not affect any other lights. Are you sure that you do not have a turn signal bulb out?

Also there are two 194 license plate bulbs, what did you do with the passenger side plate light? Is there still a bulb installed? Maybe it is shorting??

I cut off the driver's side 194 bulb socket for the license plat light and wired the LED pod in to the two wires feeding the socket. Then I removed the passenger side bulb from its socket and taped the socket so that it would be weatherproof and tucked it up under the bed. That's all that was done. However, per your advise, I just ordered the load resistors for the turn signals, the package of 4 each along with license plate bulb bolts. When they arrive on Thursday, I will remove the LED pod, replace it with the LED bulb bolts and then do the same for the passenger side (remove the socket and wire the bulb bolt). If I still have hyper flash, I will wire the resistors inline with the LED license plate bulb bolts. If hyper flash still remains to be an issue, I will use the two remaining resistors and wire them to the turn signal bulbs. Hopefully this will resolve the issues.
