driver window goes up crooked

hello all, haven't been here in awhile, but i know you guys have all the answers! :)

i have a 97 venture van, and over the last year the driver window has been getting worse and worse.

at first when you would close it you could hear air leaking in from the back top corner on the highway. now when i raise it it goes up crooked (like it wants to go more forward than up, and it will bind if you don't reach over and pull it backwards into the track.

i took the door cover off (figuring a channel or stop was loose) and found one big unit.

called chevy and they said i have to replace the entire module (it has the door lock, power window motor (i think), and armatures.....all for the reasonable price of 450 bucks for the parts.....

gmpartsonline has it for about 300 out the door...

does anyone have any experience with this, 300 is still alot to shell out and i'm not even sure thats the problem, although the only other part i can see in there is the front track that is adjusted as close to the window as it can go. i can move the window back and forth about 2 inches. the window clips don't appear to be broke, although the window moves about 1/8 back and forth....all the slop appears to be in the power window actuator brackets, there is also alittle play in the pivot pin....

the only adjustment on the whole module was one nut, i moved it a bunch of times to no affect, i think it controls how low the window goes.

i went to the library and took out the mitchell manuals and it seems simple to get out, only think i don't know is if the module comes with the motor, or if i have to take my old one off..the manual was talking about a special spring tool to release the tension before you can take the old motor off....but the dealer said its all one piece.....the manual for for chevrolet, pontiac, and oldsmobile.....maybe its one of those?

the part number the dealer gave me is 16639553

should i just go and replace the whole thing?

any ideas?
