I have been getting a squeak (sounds like the air condition compressor, but when i shut off the air, it still squeaks which makes me think its not that.) I first noticed it when i turned it on to let it warm up. its pretty speratic, it doesnt do it all the time.

2016 Chevy Silverado 5.3 1500 LT All Star edition

Anyone have any idea or have this problem as well?

I havent. I will try this this weekend. Thanks.

Before you go through all that effort; if it's just a belt, not a pulley, you can try this. With the engine running spray water on the belt with a garden hose; this will temporarily stop the noise,if it's just belt squeek or will eliminate another variable. If it does turn out to be belt noise you may want to consider replacing it with on of those Gator back belts; I've had very good luck with those stopping belt noise.

Honestly im probably going to wait till it starts doing it on a weekend and drive it to the dealership and tell them to fix it. with 7k miles on it, i shouldnt have anything wrong.

To the fact of pulling the belt off and rotating the pulleys, I do not think i could turn it fast enough to get it to make the noise.

It is so spiractic that I cannot count on it happening any particular time.

Don't have to spin the pulleys fast, any binding or bearing issue will be readily apparent.

agreed, but because it is not consistent, my fear is there is no way to diagnose the issue unless the condition it what is required to make noise. Like i said before, it does not do it every day.

My 2017 tahoe does the same thing and didnt start until i got the compressor replaced because i had no AC (compressor was due to a leaking welding point that is in a lawsuit to become a recall) it comes and goes but i notice it when im idling as well and its a faint but annoying noise. Kinda sounds like squeaking brakes. I have yet to figure out what its from and Chevy wont look with out a diagnostic fee. Im calling GM corporate (we have called them in the past [when my AC went and got half of the AC repair taken off] so they get things done. If you find out what it is let me know!
