My 2015 Silverado 2500hd has a wimpy horn. Only one of the tones is being generated. It must be a loose connection because it comes and goes. Any easy way to gain access to the horns?

Mine too, when it's cold it seems worse, just like you said one tone. It was at the dealer and they said it was fine but it is intermittent so it may have worked for them. I'm kind of a horn guy, you don't get much time to screw around and I am on you. If I could put train horns on I would be in jail for depraved indifference from causing a heart attach.

I've had 3 sets replaced. All 3 times they were filled with water. I guess they've been replacing both (or at least charging GM to replace both haha)

That's what it sounds like. Maybe I'll see if I can turn them down or move them. No sense throwing a new horn at a bad design.

Hello DGBenny,

There’s nothing worse than a wimpy horn. Have you addressed this with your dealer? If not, feel free to send us a private message, so we can forward your concern.

My 2017 2500HD Sierra had am intermittent weak horn it was mainly evident when I would arm my alarm. One day I got check engine light it through a code for loss of TCM link I took it in the dealer reseated and retorqued all the connections on the main bus harness that fixed all issues including horn. I suspect maybe they do a shotty job with some of the connectors in the factory

I replaced mine myself. I had to pull the grill and loosen the front bumper and slide it off the driver side just to get to the stock horn and wiring. Pain in the hind quarters but now there working and new

95% of the time it's the connection at the horn. A lot of times replacing the horn helps because you have a brand new connector on one side and it usually scrapes enough to make contact. I wouldn't bother. Get a small wire brush and try to clean out the contacts then soak them in Diet Coke. Blow them out and put Dielectric grease in the connection. Check function before reinstalling the grill and light bezel
