1995 GMC Sierra 2500 SLE value question

My dad got too old to drive his truck, and I need to sell it for him. I looked at the usual places for value, and come up with $3k to $5k. I figured I'd ask truck experts here for a better idea. I know, all the usual asterisks apply, and generalities are fine.

 

It's a single owner 2500 SLE with 112,000 original miles. All the mechanicals are fine. It's never had any bodywork done. The interior is excellent and has never been smoked in.

 

It has the 6.5L turbo diesel with an AT. 4x4 also.

 

Only issues it has are a few popped light bulbs, and the driver's seat is missing a 3 inch bracket, so it wobbles a bit under the driver's left knee side. It's missing a coaster sized bit of paint in the middle of the hood. It had $2k worth of work in 2012 and hasn't been driven much since (less than 100 miles). New fuel pump and hoses. It has the usual scratches from being a 1995 vehicle, but it was never abused and was cared for.

 

I've seen postings that wanted $8k or more. KBB is in the $5k range, and I'm not sure where to start it at.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Most of those trucks sell for parts as the 6.5 was a money pit dud.
