Steering wheel Select and Reset Stem

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD that I just purchased. All my buttons seem to work on my steering wheel except the select button(bottom right). I'm supposed to be able to be in a setting and hit that button to select options. Touch the. Iron and nothing happens. Also supposed to scroll through the mileage settings like personal or business and hold in the reset button up on the cluster to zero out the mileage. I hold in the reset button and nothing happens. Any ideas? I've searched the Internet and all I find are examples of people who had none of the buttons working and the replace the clock spring.

could be the switches have failed (the switches pull out of the steering wheel) or a wiring problem (ie, the clockspring).

 

Note: you want to be careful and disable the airbag before poking around, as the last thing you want is for the airbag to go off and fire whatever tool you are using into you...
