Advise needed

Hello,

I plan to buy a used truck, but I have some difficulties to choose the right one. Let me explain...

I'm living in France and except the Tahoe LT 4x4 there is no other US truck officially imported. So I cannot compare the cars or find brochures. The only information I have comes from the internet.

But it's not very easy to choose with few information.

I hesitate between 4 models, year 2000 or 2001: Silverado 1500 ext cab small bed, Sierra 1500 ext cab small bed, Tahoe, Yukon

concerning the version I want the best : power everything, leather, 4x4,etc...

for the engine I will go for a V8 5.3

what I don't know is the comfort and the equipment available in each vehicule : I want a real comfortable car, like my 2001 LT Blazer 4x4 (4doors), with the same or better level of equipment. I also want power to be able to have great acceleration.

So at the highest version, is a Silverado better than a Sierra ? And is a Tahoe better than a Yukon ?

At this time I don't know if I will choose a pickup or SUV, but knowing what car is the best in its own category will help.

Pickup truck teases me because it doesn't exist here, so it will be an "exotic" vehicule, and I like this. However I'm a bit afraid concerning the convienence of this type of car for the every-day life : for example a cargo net and cover have to be installed to avoid theft and groceries to be spreaded all accross the bed!

Also I wonder if a pickup :

* accelerates faster than a SUV (is it lighter ?)

* has the same comfort (for example as much ways on electric seats)

* has the same behavior on roads (I mean does it stuck to the road as a SUV or less or better)

bye the way, I have found a 2001 brochure from Chevrolet. If you know where I could find a 2000 or 2001 GM brochure about Sierra and Yukon on the net, it will be great !!

There really isn't any difference between the Chevy and GMC exept for trim packages. They both perform the same and have the same fully loaded options as in elctric seats and stuff. To get Brochures look on Ebay. That is where I found them for my Tahoe. I find myself to like the SUV (Tahoe) more for the everyday life. Easier to carry groceries and stuff. And if need be I can fold the seats down for larger Items. But If there are no Pick Ups then that would just be SWEET. One of a kind. Would you have to worry about theft with that though? Either way you go you can't lose. Comfort is the same as long as you get the ext cab. For me the Reg. cab is uncomfortable due to my height. I hope I helped.

Pickups can be loaded up just as much as the SUV's. An extended cab truck would give you extra storage in the back seat which also folds out of the way...

The pickup might be slightly more responsive to the throttle, but I think it would be close.

A large American pickup, would probably make you alot of friends in a hurry... (they'll want you to haul stuff for them... LOL!!! )

Extended cab pickup can be equipped very nicely like the SUV's.

The back seat, when folded up, gives plenty of space for groceries so you do not have to put them in the bed. I never put groceries in the bed, just large items like furniture, appliances, TV's, etc.

The pickup will be a little lighter.

The pickup can behave better on the road than an SUV if you get a fancy one with AWD and Quadrasteer like the GMC Sierra Denali.

If it will be exotic and one-of-a-kind, I think I would rather get the pickup! It's always nice to be different than everyone else.

Olivier- My 2003 Silverado rides like a car, or just as good as a Tahoe! I am kinda biased as I am a truck man and I think if you bought a truck and it was an "exotic" vehicle that would make it even better!

The Silverado and the Sierra can be equipped with all of the creature comforts (power everything, leather, 4x4, etc) of the SUV's except the third row seat!
