Transmission Cooler

Thinking about getting a transmission cooler, my truck did not come with one. How does the factory one mount? Does anyone have pics of the factory one? I dont know whether to try to mount one on the two bars in front of the AC condenser (or whatever that is), or use the zip tie method and attatch it directly to the condenser. I like the zip tie deal but it would be REALLY hard to get the rear fastener between the condenser and the radiator. What do you guys think? :(

The factory one is plumbed with solid lines and makes for a very clean installation. The problem is, that it would probably cost about 4 times the cash than an aftermarket one, and the aftermarket cooler probably would have a higher capacity than the stock one...

I agree.

Better off getting an aftermarket and mounting it to the rails in front and not with the zip ties through the radiator or condensor. I have talked with a few that had bad luck mounting that way. If you don't get it on just right it can cause more problems.

Try and get the biggest one that you can for a reasonable price. Hayden makes a great cooler from my experience. But don't rule out the others like B&M. Get online and shop around. Check EBay, some times you find great deals on there.

I installed a Hayden Cooler (Replacing the wimpy stock unit). I will be very happy to e-mail pics of the installed unit for an installation reference.
