P0053 code - How many ohms?

Recommended Posts

2005 Silverado 5.3L repeatedly showing code. I clear the code and it comes back after a few starts. Looked at wiring and it all looks good. Replaced left upstream O2 sensor with a new Bosch and it still shows the code. Disconnected the wiring and checked the resistance in the sensor heater circuit and it is 12.7 ohms ( I know, I should have done this before buying the new sensor!). The right upstream sensor measures 4 ohms. Online all I can find is some generic info that says most sensors are 8 ohms plus or minus 10%. Does anyone know how many ohms I should be reading and what threshold throws the P0053 code? I'm thinking my new sensor may have high resistance.

I avoid Bosch. Stick with AC Delco or Denso. Denso is OEM on many trucks

Thanks Txab.

I bought a new Denso and measured the ohms on the heater and it is 5.6. I installed it and no more problems. So, here's a big raspberry and a one finger salute to Bosch. Denso - you have a new supporter!
