Needing some wiring help...

I'm wanting to add some under lighting on my truck. I do not want it on all the time. What I am wanting is when the dome light is on they are on. So when you unlock the truck or have a door open the lights under the truck would also be on. Was thinking about being able to make a plug that would go into the obd plug like some if the power steps do.

You would want to do the puddle lamp diode mod. Take the lights underneath through the grommet on the drivers side floor board and tap into the dome circuit.

 

The puddle lamp diode mod I did for my dl3 mirrors so they come on when I open my door.

This shows where the diode needs to go for the puddle light mod. I tapped into my thicker gray wire under the drivers side A pillar for the added dome lights. When these two mods are done together, this should be what you're trying to accomplish.
