I just had the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder replaced on my 98 Z71. It was fine when it went in, I picked it up Friday and droveit homed parked it. When I tried to start it this afternoon the battery was dead. We jumped it off and let it run for 30 minutes or so, then cut it off and it still wouldnt start back. I hooked the charger up to it and waited till it said it was fully charged and it still wouldnt start. I swapped the battery out with one out of the camaro and it strted right up. Drove it about 10 miles and the SES light came on. I brought it home and yanked the battery out. it jumps fire when making the connections even if EVERYTHING is off including the hood light. Is this normal? Any ideas?????

UPDATE:

After charging the battery last night, it still wouldnt hold enough to crank the truck. I took it back this morning (only 5 months old) and they tested it. BAD battery. They replaced it and the truck fired right up, no SES light either. I took it back to the place that did the work and he tested the alternator, the new battery, tested for a current draw, and finally checked the codes. Everything checked out fine except for a history code for an o2 sensor that was set back in the winter. He said to drive it and see what it does, but everything looks fine. Its just hard for me to believe that the battery failing was just a coincidence, but time will tell.

I know you have already replaced the battery but keep in mind, at idle speeds, alternators do not provide very much charging power. They mostly just power the electronics and not recharge the battery. That is also another reason your lights get brighter when you rev the engine up, because the alternator is at it's operating speeds.
