99 2WD Silverado w/o tow package

Recommended Posts

Friend of mine just installed a hitch and reciever for his truck, but is running into problems wiring the lights for the trailer. I told him to look for a plug and play setup, so he wouldn't have to splice into any wires. He said, they don't have a plug and play for his truck, only the splice kind. Is this correct and if so, anyone got a link or instructions on how to wire his truck for his trailer lights? I tried the search feature, but got 22 pages of trailer brake wiring. Thanks, Chris

You can also get a pre-wired connector for many of the brake controllers which will allow you to install the controller without hacking the under dash wiring harness.

I installed a Tekonsha Prodigy that I bought online for less than the local trailer guy wanted to sell me a basic tekonsha controller... I picked up the prewired connector (http://www.tekonsha.com/bch3025.html ) and I was wired up in less than 5 minutes. Mounting the controller added another 10mins.

I'd recommend this setup in a second. Works great and total cost of $130.
