'01 Tahoe, replacing 265/70s, move up to 285s?

Read some earlier posts discussing going with 285s on trucks, but this is a bit more of a step up for a Tahoe, because the originals are 265/70s, not 75s. Anyone gone with 285s on a Tahoe? Any issues like rubbing or power loss (such as more downshifting from overdrive on the hiway). I figure I can stand cranking the bars a bit, but don't want too stiff of a ride. If it comes with problems, I'll limit the step up to 265/75s.

I have a 3.73 gear. Does anyone know if Chevy really puts a different gear in the Tahoe than the truck to account for the slightly different tire?

I replaced my 265/70-16's with Pirelli Scorpion Zero 285/65-16's ... they fit great, handle excellent and look awesome. The tire height was almost exactly the same as stock. But, they are wearing pretty quick and so will need new meats soon - am looking at Yokohama AVS ST 285/70-16 for an ever so slightly softer ride since I drive on a lot of very bad roads. Sorry no pics

Update: the AVS ST 285/70-16's should be on this weekend, I'm confident they will fit.
