02 silverado - stock ride height.

Im replacing the control arms because the bushigns and jouints are bad.

been messing with it all day; i cannot get the springs to compress enough to get it in.

ive used spring compressors from both autozone and pepboys.

they come off when I m still 2-3 inches from having enough compression to get them in.

these are what ive tried:

any tips?

i searched for anywhere close that advertised online that they band springs, I came up with nothing.

Dangerous, do at your own risk:
A) two sets of McPherson compressors, alternating set thru two stages
B) compress arm a little using a Jack

I got one of them.

installing big coil springs is scary shit.

I use the bolt and end piece off the OEM brad untit through the shock tower bolt, with a strap to pull the spring toward the seat.

i cranked the spring down really far, then dropped the truck down onto the lower control arm.

luckily i have a 2 post lift, otherwise i would have never got it in.

tomorrow i try the other side.

 - thanks for the response.

Goto your local Advanced auto, Autozone, Napa, Orileys, and borrow there loaner spring compressor. Makes this job so much easier and less dangerous...
