What makes us different from the other side (Ford, Dodge, etc.)? Why do we see Chevy trucks on the road and think "now there goes a truck"?

Now don't get me wrong, a fast sportscar like a corvette or camaro would be nice too, but when I go to get MY next vehicle I already know it's gonna be a Chevy truck. :flag:

You guys ever wonder? :D

We used to be a Dodge family. I know I know. :flag: Then around the same time my dad bought a used 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota V8 (number 1128 of 1500 I believe) and one of the first 1993 Jeep Grand Cheerokees to see Jacksonville Fl. Then about 10 months later when the Dakota had 30k miles the overdrive unit on the transmission locked up and the jeep had spent 26 days in the shop with HORRIBLE customer service. By that time he had driven Ford work trucks and really just didnt like any of them. He got the Dodge fixed and by the time he got it back a friend of his had hidden my 1994 C1500 in the very back corner of the lot and on 12-16-93 he traded the Dodge on the Chevy. My mom got a 1994 Toyota 4Runner and had good luck with it, then she wanted another car and got a 1997 Acura 3.0CL. Well after the city was doing traffic light repair they some how had both directions showing a green light. Well my mom got hit in the passenger door. The car was not totaled but it was never right after the wreck. She then realized she wanted another truck and we traded the CL on a new 1999 2 door Tahoe. Since then we have traded it one a 2002 Tahoe and my dad has driven an 82 Vette, 72 GMC, 01 GMC and now 03 Chevy D/A. :D

We have a mix out here of all of the big 3 I was raised around the big 3 so i really dont know why I have a preferance for GM over Ford

But I know I hate dodges .

Our dakotas (olderstyle) and our 76 1 ton heavy truck are great trucks but we have had a couple of newer dodges that have given us nothing but trouble our 97 cummins equipt 2500 ext long that we traded in 99 for our f-250 crew short psd was a pile of junk interior lights kept going out couldnt pin point a problem neither could the dealer , tranny spit out its guts at 38k miles

We have a ram 1500 ext cab short that is begining to be a bitch too we have already replaced the tranny in it twice and it is starting to act up again not to mention replacing the rear and 2 head gaskets on the pass side (those are the major things) :flag:

I think this is going to be the next truck we are going to replace even though there are older trucks out here .

Our last few vehicles that we have bought have not beeen dodge trucks thank god but we did buy a jeep 2 yrs ago (so far so good)

I would buy another GM or a Ford but you couldnt give me a Dodge :D

Used to hot rod SB Fords, changed to SBC's after driving my cousins dragster (8.9 in the 1/4 with a 355 N/A). Really fell in love with the Professional looking instrumentation versus the Ford. I put too many alternators and waterpumps on Fords also.

I have one uncle that only buys chevy's my dad for the most part. I bought a ford had it eight years, seems like problems NEVER stopped. Swore I would never go back. Although with the powerstroke I wanted to sometimes. I could never bring myself to do it.

I chose Chevy over the rest because the people I knew who had them never seemed to have issues, so far that's pretty much the way I have had. Other than the few issues I caused myself.... :D

I think GM summed it up pretty good in their ad campaign that used the tagline

"Chevy trucks. The most dependable, longest lasting, trucks on the road."

I'm not sure that is exactly what it said but it was something to that effect. :D

pretty much strictly GM at home growing up. I had an 85 Dodge 600 hand me down from Grandma as the first car, and after basically mechanically replacing most of it, I got a 92 Jimmy, then the Rado...yes, I got my mind right
