Fuel Injector Replacement/ Intake Removal

Recommended Posts

I am fighting a P050D error code on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L V8.  I am having trouble finding info on the process for replacing the fuel injectors.  I am reading that the intake manifold needs to be removed.  What is the process for removing the intake manifold?  What parts do I purchase beyond the injectors.  Is this something that I can do easily in my garage?

Having read through all the various supercharger systems install manuals, the manuals for non-roots type superchargers all say you just need to remove the fuel rail to get to injectors.

Have you tried cleaning the injectors using one of those kits that you actually run the engine from?

Thanks. It is my understanding that the fuel rail is under the manifold. The only cleaner i tried was the bottle from Costco that you put in your gas tank. I think it is by Chevron.

I have also got the p219a error code now. I am thinking that it is related. Would an induction cleaning help or do I just need to have the injectors replaced?

I checked the instructions for pro-charger and they say you need to unplug the connectors and unbolt the fuel rails to remove injectors.  The injectors go into the ports, be difficult to have them beneath the intakes that bolts to those ports.  You may want to make sure you have new 'o' - rings as seals for the injectors.

I would have the injectors cleaned using the system that attaches to the fuel rail and after clamping the return line and pulling fuse for fuel pump you run the engine off what is in the can.

The trouble code you are getting is likely an issue with the O2 sensor on that bank. The code means that entire bank is lean, not just one cylinder.  You need to look at what can affect those 4 cylinders without also impacting the other bank.
