Got a question for everyone, my wife's 2002 Envoy has developed a squek in the front end when going at slow speeds. I check everything that I could think of to try and fix it, but no luck. I had the Envoy in at the dealer, and they said that it was the rubber bump stops under the hood. They greased them, and sure enough, the squek stopped, but!!!!!, the squek has come back. I checked the bump stops, and they still have plenty of grease on them and appear to be allright, I don't know what else it could be. If anyone else has had this similiar occurance, what did you do to fix it? Is there something else that I need to grease or adjust to make this squek stop?? This new vehicle shouldn't squek like that!!

If anyone has any suggestions or help, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Are you talking about the overslam bumpers? If so, it sounds like they might not be adjusted properly. I would back them out a little bit so they are putting a slight bit of pressure on the hood. They might be just barely touching the hood right now and causing the squeak. I don't know, just a guess. Give it a try.

That is it. I used a ruler or tape measure and adusted both of these stops so that they are the same height. Then adjusted them up, toward the hood a little at a time until the squeak stopped.

Now wouldn't you think the dealer would have done that instead of just greasing them? Very disappointing. Awesome suggestion.

That is disappointing. Unbelievable, actually. Dealers suck. Hope this fixes your squeak!

Thanks guys for all of your comments and suggestions on how to fix the squek. I should have asked the question here about the squek before taking it to the dealer!!! I would have saved me some time and frustrations. I will adjust the stops this weekend and see how it goes, and hopefully the squek will stop!!!

thanks again, I will keep you guys posted on the status of the "squek"

Now I have to make you laugh. My father is my dealer and he was the one that figured out what it was before I could even investigate. I guess that is why he has been doing this for almost 30 years now.
