01BlackZ71 Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Does anyone know of any place in the firewall on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab with the 5.3 L and automatic transmission to run an 8 gauge wire through? I'm in the middle of an install and desperatly need help. Any info on installing an amp and running the power wire to the battery would be helpful. Please...anything.
MountaineerTom Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 If your standing in front of the truck, looking in the engine bay, there is a bundle of wires going trough a grommet in the firewall on the far right corner, to the left of the brake fluid resovior. It's kind of tight though, not sure how well 8 gauge wire will go through. Good luck.
vortec4800 Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Look around for any grommits going through the firewall already, and if that doesn't fit then drill a hole next to it (make sure you won't drill into anything important) and run it through there. After you're done running the wires and you're sure that you won't need to change or move anything, fill the hole with silicone to seal it up. That should work great!
