2015-2016 Silverado OEM Auto lock/unlock tailgate retrofit.

Finally had the time to retrofit/upgrade my 15 Silverado tailgate to a 16 Silverado with auto lock/unlock feature. Thanks to@pgamboa and his schematics I was able to accomplish this with no problems. Check it out.

Can you get just the lock to add yourself? All it would need is power for lock and unlock. Sounds so much quieter than the pop n lock too.

Right, so my 15 tailgate got stolen and so I figure if I get the 16 I should be able to do it which I did. Just tap in the lock and unlock power from the A-pillar. And you’re right it’s much quitter than the pop and lock.

I added the pop n lock a while ago so I could use the existing wires if I could just get the number for it.

 

Is there a part number on the lock assembly?

 

I’ve been looking for this but not gonna just go out and buy a new tailgate I know the actual handle and assembly is the same size and shape just need to find the part number which I didn’t think would be too hard to find, but haven’t been able to find it

The locking mechanism itself is attached by those 2 areas where the red circles are, without those the mechanism can’t function properly, pop and lock can be added without those.
I had a 15 tailgate and I ended buying the locking mechanism think I could just added but I found out the 16 tailgates have those 2 areas where the mechanism attaches to, so I sold my 15 and bought a 16 tailgate and to my surprise it came with the locking mechanism. Now I have an extra locking mechanism., if you’re interested I sell it to your for $80.00 shipped. It still looks new.

Actually nvm. A guy said his was a 15 but it was a 16. I don’t have them but I’m sure I could fab something up if your willing to work on the price a bit
