Duramax Vs Powerstroke

1st of all I am pissed that I had to see the new TruckTrend in the grocery store instead of my mailbox. What the hell? Shouldn't people with subscription get the first peek???

Anyway, from what I can tell it looks like they give the kudos to the P-stroke.

Get used to it. I swear, I see the mags in the stores, several days before I receive my issue in the mail a lot of times. It pizzes me off.:confused:

:smash: On a karting forum I frequent topics will pop up about stuff and I have no clue. :smash::lol: Then about 2 weeks later I will get my Karting Scene mag in the mail and find out what they were talking about. :wtf::wtf:

I was messing around on Fords equivalent to GMbuypower. I noticed that the Powerchoke only had a GVW of 8800. I also noticed that a "Built Ford Tough" hitch reciever cost $175. :smash:

The 6.0 Powerstroke does make good power but is no where near as reliable as a Duramax. :smash:

The 6.0 sucks balls okay that's about it. My two buddys sold their 7.3 PSD to get the allmight 6.0 that smacks down the DMAX. Well Evan's truck ate a cam gear at 250miles.. Yep they gave him the choice of a new truck that was exactly like his except his is two tone black and silver whereas before it was just black. Hensley's Powerstroke couldn't pull it's self out of a boat ramp if not for 4lo; not because of tire spin but because until that turbo spools up that truck is a dog. I have no doubt in my mind that if you hooked a 6.0 to a 7.3 the 7.3 would rip, torque and yank that 6.0 to death. I mean wtf was Ford/International thinking?

Lets see 7.3 444cid turbo intercooled manly motor sounds good don't brake much. But does like it's water pumps and everyonce in awhile a pump or two.

To a 6.0 364cid, like my HD, with no low-end present from the two that I've personally drove. They kick ass above 2K but you do your lugging in a diesel at 1K or 1.5K. Good job phord Lets see to get this load rolling well drop the clutch at 2500rpm and let all the torque drag the clutch, shimmy the preasure plates, and tear s**t up but god d**n it we have 565lbs/ft. torque. I have no doubt the new 6.0 will be a good highway truck better than our 7.3 PSD's they die about about 70 then their done.

Okay I'm off the freakin soap box.

Go back to that same site and check out the GVWR on a SRW F350.....

As for the 6.0 lacking low end torque, I have heard that it does with the 6 speed. Can't say because the local Ford dealership won't let me drive one. But everyone I have drove with the automatic will flat out walk away from the 7.3, especially with a load on. From idle on up they pulled stronger then the 7.3 optioned the same way.

I saw this and had to scratch my head on a comment made in the article. Mind you I do not have it here at work so I can't quote it exactly, but it went something along the lines of GM/GMC not offering a SRW 1 ton truck like ford. I started scratching my head thinking that our 2500HD's (and the 2500HD they were testing) WAS a SRW 1 ton truck. :smash:

Maybe I just read it wrong.

Rodger both of my buddies' trucks are 6spds and they are dogs on low-end but once up to about 2k-2.5K they willl scream. As far as pulling a load getting them started ain't hard but it ain't as painless and easy as with a 7.3. I'll bet any money on this. Never drove a slop box. Torqujack.

Yeah I don't get it either. And to be honest don't get the difference between fords f-250 and f-350 SRW they have the same rear-end and amount of springs. I guess it's the emblem on the side that is different.

The only difference in the F250/F350 SRW is that the 350 has 4" blocks in the rear and the 250 has a 2" blocks.

The F250 has 8800 rating.

The F350 has 9900 rating.

It's actually possible to order a 250 with a heavy service package or plow/camper equipment that is more heavily sprung than the 350. I think the HS option adds an extra leaf on the front-end.

No comment on the 6.0L PSD fiasco other than I wouldn't spend $$ on one for another year or so of production. Hate being a guinea pig. I wouldn't want to touch any of the new "displacement-on-demand" engines GM's going to use in the next year or two either.

Having driven both a 7.3 and a 6.0 i would have to say that the 7.3 kicks the 6.0s ass (this is in F-550s with 16ft ambulance/light rescue bodies)

The only problem with the 7.3 is that tranny they put behind it where as the 6.0s tranny the torqshift is much better
