Does this sound right to you

Ok does this sound right to you.. When I shift out of park into R I get a fairly loud bang... From what the stealer told me this is normal.(showed me a 03 that did it but that still does not make me think its right) It is the drive train taking up slack. Something about me having two drive shafts and them twisting to take up the slack. Who else has a Crew Cab long box.. Does this happen to you.. Or anyone with the two piece drive shaft.. This is starting to really piss me off.. :flag: On top of all my other problems this is really getting to me...

I have an '02, I dunno if I have a bang, but I definatly have some loud clicks and such. From the informative video I got with my truck (it's kinda cool, and funny), it says that the noise is normal, it just the transmission unlocking from park, something about pins that hold it in place in park, apparently their large and there are a few of them so they make a lot of noise, I get the same noise when i put in park, ANYWAY......I don't think I have a loud bank, and I have the double drive shafts too.....this probably didn't help.....dunno :flag:

mine has always had a noisy in/out of park, not sure I woudl call it a bang, always thought it was the "heavy duty, GCVW rated parking paul" in the allison, I have a short bed ex cab but sieince 2 wheel it takes the two shaft shaft also maybe that is part of the noise also?

I have the 8.1 CC Short bed. single shaft.

Mine has had a noticable 'clunking' from the day I bought it when I shift to or from Park. (there a couple of people around here with d-Maxs and I hear the same from theirs occasionally)

It was explained to me to be the parking paw in the Ally. I can also hear the linkages moving. (from Drive to Park, there are at least 3 clunks in rapid fire succession as I move the shift lever.)

It is most noticable if I am on an incline. It will sometimes make noise on a flat and level.

I should turn 36000 with in the next day or two. Absolutley zero tranny issues since new.

bummed.

Forgot to say mine is a 6.0L and no matter how I park it does it fairly often. I always set the E-Brake no matter if its an incline or not..

I've got the crew cab long bed and I've heard a noise before but nothing that got me overly concerned. I do set the e-brake whenever I park the truck. I just feel like it saves the parking pawl. It may not but, it makes me feel like I'm taking extra good care of my truck so it'll take extra good care of me!
