Thanks for the suggestion.  I read about this one when looking to mouse proof my trailer.  It may be worth a try!

I'll second the peppermint oil (extract) idea.  I had a mouse invasion of my old Audi weekend toy car.  A few paper towels drizzled with peppermint oil for about a month stopped the droppings from appearing....or the rat just moved on to somewhere else.
