Engine covers

I have a '99 Sierra and I was wondering how the 2001+ Denali/Escalade side covers attach. Do the newer valve covers have bosses on them? Has anyone seen any good pics that show the mounting points?

You can use any of the 99-03 engine covers on your truck. If you use the 2001+ covers, you also need a simple bracket to bolt on your intake. Here are some part numbers :)

12561510 - 2001+ Vortec cover bracket/hinge

12568627 - Caddy center engine cover

15006419 - Denali center engine cover

15006417 - Left side cover (used for Caddy and Denali covers)

15006418 - Right side cover (used for Caddy and Denali covers)

The side covers bolt right up, you may need to fabricate a quickie bracket to mount them to the head. It has been done with ease :sigh:

Here are some pics of the Caddy covers on a 2000 5.3L Silverado:

Thanks for the info, gmcjoe! That's exactly what I needed to know. I had found the part # for the bracket and I was wondering how much fab work was needed. I didn't figure it would be too much.

:) Yep, remove and replace 2 bolts and clip in the cables on top of the intake and you're rollin'

gmcjoe,

What kind of intake is that? Never saw a clear one.

Also I see you have a body lift. (Can tell by the ground bracket) What did you do with the fan shroud? It looks like yours is higher. Did you leave the top half in the stock position and fabricate pieces for the middle?

Sorry I do see in the lower picture the bracket, so I guess you did lower yours down.

Also with the engine cover, does it increase the temp of the motor any since it is being shielded with plastic?

That isn't my truck, sorry I can't answer the other questions you asked.

It belongs to Y2KZ71 on http://www.fullsizechevy.com

He has the clear UPD (NSV) (NSV) (NSV) intake setup :)
