door locks

When i shut off my 1999 chevy silver the doors stay lock is there any way for the to unlock when i shut off my truck.Without pushing the button.

If you still have the owners manual it shows how to adjust the timer and turn that feature on/off I believe.

That feature wasn't introduced until the 2000 model for us 99 and early 00's we have to get a module. I don't know if there are any others out there besides R&D's but I really like having theirs. I went with there upgrade special that has the fog light controller, lock/unlock controller, and the headlight contoller. All work awesome. I also have their unlock kit, as well as the R&D 4 hi kit which allows you to have both the hi beams and lows on at the same time. Both kits work great.

I some R&D kits on my '99 truck too, and all work great. But be aware that several pople have had some problems receiving ordered parts and contacting R&D recently. I have no complaints about their products though. I hope people can still order and get their products, contact them, and they still continue to do business.

R & D is still in business. Just got my headlight and foglight controller about a week ago. I have a 1999 Sierra, and hated that the door locks didn't open when the key is removed from the ignition like the 2000. So, got a BCM module off of e-bay for a 2000 Silverado, and now i works perfect. Plus you can program it to lock and unlock different ways. Just do a search on the BCM, plenty of guys here have done the switch. There is also a procedure for getting your security feature to work with the new BCM. Truck won't start at first when you replace it.

Yep, I got a new BCM too and it works great.

I think you could possibly get your existing BCM reprogrammed with 2000 code, but the dealers charge $60 to do it.

Guys..you know if any of the R&D kits will work on a 97 GMC Suburban...would like the lock/unlock feature..I see that the quad lighte kit will work, but would like the headlight on/ off button kit and the lock/ unlock kit..not sure if they would work in the burb or not...some advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks!
