Just read this in the Nov 03 issue of Sport Truck Magazine. This might be old new to some since the TSB was released in Jan '03, but it was the first I had heard of it.

NHTSA Evaluates Cracked-Wheel Complanits on '99 - '03 Fullsize Pickups and SUV's

GM issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 03-03010-001) in January '03 to address a wheel-cracking concern in model year '99 - '03 GM Silverado, Sierra, Suburban, and Yujon vehicles equipped with the six bolt, 16x6.6 inch, full face steel wheels. The two piece wheels may crack along the outboard bead seat weld. The bulletin indicates that the condition tends to occur in vehicles that have been driven off road. If the condition is found in one or more wheels on a vehicle, dealers are instructed to replace all the wheels with heavy duty wheels. GM has received two complaints about cracked wheels in vehicles covered by the bulletin. In one of the complaint vehicles, three wheels allegedly cracked in the manner described in the bulletin. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency, and safety risk associated with the wheel cracking condition described in TSC 03-03-10-001.

Ugh, I have this problem, and it's not a safety recall either so that means it's not getting fixed free.

Oh well, maybe some JB Weld will fix it till I can get a new set of chrome Silverado SS wheels.
