Apple CarPlay and Pinch to zoom

I want to make sure I'm not missing anything here but when I go to regular maps in intellilink I can pinch to zoom. In Apple CarPlay, while in google maps or apple maps, I get no joy. My buddies vehicle allows this although it's not a GM product. 

 

Any ideas?

Found this in another thread...never tried it. Give it a try and post if it works...

Using the menu Knob does bring up the LRUD + Zoom in/out. From there you can push the menu button to perform pinch to zoom type functions but not actually touching the screen. It’ll work so thank you.
